Crawdad Fishing

Earlier today Huntley and I decided to go for a walk and feed the ducks. Unfortunately the ducks didn't want anything to do with us but in the meantime we found out our favorite little duck pond also happened to be infested with crawdads. So when Chris got off the river we loaded up some stinky old meat and did a little crawdad fishin.
Chris and I had a blast trying to get the little buggers in the bucket and watching them fight and go crazy over the bait. Huntley on the other had seemed more interested in the bait. I guess this is one critter she won't be interested in.

Birthday Fish

Lately we've been going out to Antelope Flat to fish for big fat spawning rainbows. Well actually Huntley falls asleep on the drive out so Chris fishes while I watch from the truck with the sleeping baby. Not that I mind because I love watching him fish, picture Brad Pitt on River Runs Through It. Anyways for Chris's birthday he wanted to go fishing and he wanted a pic with him, Huntley, and a fish. Of course of all the nights Huntley stayed awake the wind had to be blowing like a hurricane and the Gorge resembled the ocean. Huntley hates the wind and I hate the affects the wind has on Huntley. In order to fulfill Chris's birthday wish we sat in the truck and watched him catch a monster bow, left the truck to go see the fish and have his dream picture. The only bad thing was the pic struggled since I was hurrying and Huntley was more fascinated with the fish then smiling for the camera. At least we gave him what he wanted, mabey next year will be a little more idealistic.

Waiting for Sun

When I started this blog I wanted it to be a place where I could record all of our adventures in the Great Outdoors. Well that became a curse to me because ever since I've started posting here I haven't really had any opportunities to be outside. Ol' Jack Frost is just not giving up his grip on our little mountain. Chris has been able to get out and look for sheds and then relays his stories of the woods to me but to repeat them here is just too depressing and gives me a major case of cabin fever, or should I say "trailer" fever. Last week we had a semi nice day so we bundled Huntley up for an hour and went looking for some bones but had no luck. Currently Chris is out looking for sheds right now and Huntley and I are watching the snow fall. Sometimes I feel bitter towards him but then I get a goofy grin from my crazy baby and it makes waiting for an adventure worth it.

Finished Product

Here is the finished product of all of Chris's hardwork. The cats turned out pretty good and now off to the fur sale they go. Now we are on to looking for sheds, this actually is my favorite time of the year. Hopefully it gets warm so we can take Huntley outside.

The End is Here

The past few days have been pretty eventful. Chris finished the trapping season by getting these thee cats in three days. Of course Huntley and I are his lucky charms because the day we went with him he caught two cats in one day. Now he just has the fun part of getting them all stretched and ready for the fur trade. He's already planning on buying a nice big tv but unfortunately for him he still has the pig to pay for, there's always next year.

Foxes, Foxes, and more Foxes

I guess this year is going to be all about the red fox. Three of these guys were trapped in the same night. Chris was pretty excited about that, too bad they weren't kitties. So far Chris has trapped 5 red fox and 2 cats. There is also a lion that has been messing with one of his traps and killed two of the foxes. It also stepped in one of the traps but it triggered off too slow. Chris was bummed but I was pretty relieved.

Red Fox

Chris trapped this fox on Wednesday. The cold weather has sure got the animals out and about. This is the first red fox he has ever trapped. They aren't worth very much money but the coat is really beautiful.
